Our founder Mark Ramnauth has been doing disability work for 20 years.

He used to be a Vocational Expert for Social Security, and has been involved in thousands of cases.  From such a vantage point you see how the attorneys and representative work.  Familiarity with the culture and personalities in the hearing offices cannot be overemphasized.   These cases are very vocational, and so the Vocational Experts in the hearing, respect his background.   He has a Masters in Rehabilitation, which means that he knows the medical issues in addition to the vocational issues.

He is frequently called upon to present in national organizations on matters related to Social Security hearings.  He is a proud member of the National Association of Disability Representatives (NADR).  He is an Accredited Disability Representative, which is a designation awarded to those who pass a national examination on Social Security Disability.  He is involved in training attorneys and advocates on Vocational Expert Testimony guest lectures at Hunter College, St. John's University and Legal Services of New York.   He also has a strong background in Long Term Disability, Workers' Compensation and Personal Injury Litigation cases.  Many of  the issues in those areas are relevant to Social Security Disability.  Understanding the impact of settlements and the differences between these programs can be critical.

Our goal is to win your case.  The few cases that do not prevail are appealed through the judicial system.

We bring together key expertise to focus especially on:

  1. Medical conditions – We consult with many physicians of all specialties. We use the services of Medical Experts who worked for the Social Security Administration and are familiar with the Listing of Impairments.
  1. Vocational – Social Security Disability involves a 5 Step Analysis. Step 4 and 5 are vocational.  You are at a disadvantage if your representative is not strong in this area.  Unfortunately, we have seen good cases get lost because of this weakness and we have been helping the advocate community learn to understand vocational testimony and issues
  1. Legal- The definition of disability is in the final matter a legal definition. These laws are covered in the Social Security Act and its regulations.  We keep updated on these regulations by active participation in ongoing continuing education. In fact to be qualified and accredited there was an examination strictly focused on this area of administrative law.
  2. Financial- Winning benefits is about money and health care coverage.  You need to be able to get answers from your representative about the implications of income and resources on your potential benefits.
  3. Process-  Social Security Administration is a very complex organization that is, at times stove piped.  We know how to navigate the agencies' field office, disability determinations services, office of hearing, the appeals council and other parts of SSA.  There are tons of forms and procedures.  Even attorneys who don’t practice often in this area, can be overwhelmed.

Customer Service
Personal and individualized service is a big deal for us. To us, you are a person not a case.
We get many referrals from clients because they are pleased with the service and the quality of the advocacy.  The staff here is bilingual, and we are people who care about people. We think of ways to save money for our clients.  Since getting medical records is expensive, we try to get as much free of charge for the client.

We serve the New York City Metropolitan area. When a client has to visit our Manhattan office, we could offer subway fare if needed for the initial interview.  Social Security Administration sets fees, and we don’t get paid unless we win.   We could also reduce the cap, on a case by case basis.
